Why Replace? With the rising costs of new rigs, and the wafer thin margins most of us find ourselves operating on it is often just not an option to simply buy a new semi when the old one starts to feel the years. If a new or restored engine means extending the life of that rig it is only common sense. Plus modern engines can deliver really usable power from much smaller cylinder block sizes. That means where once it was all about the number of liters under the hood now a lighter engine, requiring less fuel, can still put out 500 horsepower and effectively replace a larger older one. In a business where every saving counts that can make all the difference. Re Con Engines Reconditioned or re manufactured engines spark mixed feelings in truckers but when it comes down to it the savings of using a recon or re manufactured engine comes down to quality; both of the engine in question, and the diesel experts who have worked on it. Many of our second hand engines haven't been bored out or gone through any major work; they've simply had components replaced or updated to bring them up to current standards. Which means we can help you find the engine that's right for you, whatever your budget. All Kinds of Engines We work with CAT Diesels and the Detroit Diesel Series 60. As smaller and cheaper engines have become more popular we have seen growing number of Cummins engines and we think their range is excellent but heavily reliant on proper maintenance and we do sometimes find ourselves repairing the damage where that has not been kept up. From the European-influenced side of engine development we work with the less torquey but more efficient Volvo engine types including Renault, Mack, and Nissan. If it runs in a semi truck then we are the people to repair or replace it. |
